SINFUL STRAWBERRY MERINGUE

If cream sauce is appealing to you, you’ll like the “Strawberry Meringue” that I tasted at the “Midpoint”. It’s a new one in their menu. That’s why I immediately wanted to try. It’s a delicate dessert with a light taste. It’s not too sweet to ruin the experience so it goes well with your coffee till the end.
It’s prepared with the ladyfingers, strawberry sauce, semolina pudding and Italian Meringue. The cream sauce on it is the ornament. I just expected to feel the strawberry sauce and strawberry pieces more but the dominant taste was the cream sauce which was not a problem for me at all.
In general it should look like a pie or if it’s a Strawberry Meringue Cake we should see more layers but here the creativity of Midpoint chefs carries this dessert to another category. The quality service and the presentation of the dessert make you feel like you’re in the right place to treat yourself.
God forgive my sweet sins!

FANTASTIC RASPBERRY MILK PUDDING

Today was a sunny and bright day. It was almost like early spring in the middle of winter. Discovering new places in the old town was a great idea. Although it was tiring, we were satisfied the fullest.
We headed for a historical place which has been there since 1864. “Hafiz Mustafa Sekerleme”  is in Bahcekapi, Eminonu. It’s a cute little place on a historical corner. Upper floor is not very comfortable but when you go there, you shouldn’t look for comfort or luxury. You’re blessed if you can even find a place to sit because it’s always crowded inside.
They have innumerable types of desserts and sweets. They even don’t know the exact number. In order for you to have an idea I can say they have 45 different types of Turkish Delight, 15 different types of milk pudding, 18 different types of Baklava … It’s just the beginning of a long list.

I tried “Raspberry Milk Pudding (Muhallebi) because it looked unique to me. Milk pudding is prepared by mixing some milk, sugar and rice flour. You heat this mixture till it is thickened. Mostly you put some cinnamon on it when you serve but here I ate something more than I expected. The raspberry jello with raspberries inside left a fantastic taste when mixed with the pudding. What a discovery! The portions are big so you won’t find yourself in the middle of the joy with an empty cup. N’joy your dreams!

HEAVENLY WHITE CHOCOLATE PROFITEROLE

I was at “Lavazzo Andromeda” in Atasehir and it was a necessity to eat something sweet during the deep and stimulating conversation. We were talking about the turning points in life and Spartan decisions. I had to reach the climax at some point of it. So we asked for the dessert menu which was pretty rich in options. Good God! I was about to get unconscious when my eyes were trapped in the title of it, “White Chocolate Profiterole”.

I know some of you are already prejudiced about white chocolate and you think white chocolate has a sharp and strong taste. It’s usually true but it depends on how much it’s used. Profiterole is a pastry roll coated mostly with dark chocolate sauce. That’s why I wanted to try this new version of it. It didn’t take too long to eat it all. And for me it was like travelling to heaven for a few minutes and come back to the reality. The coffee and the service were perfect, too.

You should know that I only write about the tastes I like and eliminate some others. I hope it helps you when you want to add your life some little sweet things. I want to make sure that you smile afterwards as I do. Bon appétit!

HAPPY MAGNOLIA DAY!

It’s a well-known fact that the taste of a dessert can easily change your mood in a minute. We often underestimate the power of little sweet things in life because we pretend that we have more important issues and we think we deserve bigger or more valuable things to satisfy ourselves. We should know that even one bite of a little sweet thing will lead you to happiness. Yep, there is a light in the end of the tunnel. Soon you’ll see it.

It was sunny when I left home but rainy when I got to the other side of the city. I met my dearest friend Sesil at “Cookshop” in Nisantasi. It was pretty gloomy and grey outside so we decided to cheer ourselves up. I couldn’t help looking at the dessert menu. It was right under my nose, “Magnolia”. It’s named after the famous Magnolia Bakery in New York and one of their delicious products. You can see the photo of it which I took last summer.

The “Cookshop” has developed it in time with different types of fruit. I usually stick to the original one with banana. They never give you the recipe but I can define the taste as something mixed up with banana mousse, banana purée, white cream, some vanilla, a little honey, crumbled biscuits (Cici Bebe Biscuits). It is like the pudding but more delicious than that and they serve it on a nice flat plate and with a special spoon. They sometimes serve with some cocoa on it. You can try the one with strawberry and chocolate, too. I hope you’ll like it as much as I do.
